• Name: The name "hedgehog" comes from the Middle English words heyg or hegge meaning "hedge" and hoge or hogge meaning "hog".

•Hedgehogs have an astonishing 5000- 7000 spines on their back which they can raise and lower to defend themselves!

•Hedgehogs are in fact lactose intolerant so while you may be trying to feed them don't leave out milk as it can hurt them.

•They can run up to 5miles per hour (or 9km an hour) at full speed.
